Rushcliffe Borough Council Armed Forces Day

In amongst the stalls for the Royal British Legion and Nottingham VC Fund, 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron ran a fund raising and recruitment stall at the Rushcliffe Borough Council Armed Forces Day.

Despite the limited equipment available the Cadets made themselves busy promoting the tombola, selling raffle tickets for the Wing and speaking to interested youngsters and their parents about the ATC.  Many people visited the stall throughout the day including the new Mayor of Rushcliffe, Councillor Gordon Moore and his wife Georgia.

Councillor Gordon Moore, his wife Georgia talking to Cdt Lydia Welham and Sgt Emily Tring.

Jill Tring, Chair of 209s Civilian Committee who organised the event said, “Thank you to the public for supporting 209 Squadron. The Cadets sold 124 Wing raffle books.  Good luck and I hope one of you is a winner of the top prize of £500. With this and the Tombola we raised £208 for the Squadron. It was an enjoyable day and I would like to thank Nikki and Ruth at Rushcliffe Council for inviting us to take part.

The event was shared with ‘Proms in the Park’ and the day ended with a concert which included the Nottinghamshire Police Pipe Band and the Nottingham Concert Band.
