Recruitment
As part of our recruitment drive we approached the Nottingham Emmanuel School earlier this year with a view holding a recruitment event at the school. Emmanuel’s Deputy Head Mrs Bracha was very enthusiastic and came up with a number of ideas in which we could raise the Squadrons profile at the school.
To begin with an article about 209 and Air Experience Flying was included in the schools newsletter. Then we held a recruitment stand during the schools lunch hour. Cpl Ryan Young of 209 attends the school and gave up his lunch time to talk to interested pupils about his experiences in the Air Cadets. We even had help from Cpl Kane Hatfield of 1360 (Stapleford and Sandiacre) Sqn who also goes to Emmanuel School. He saw what we were doing and joined in.
Sgt Vincett who organised the event said, “We are very grateful to the Emmanuel School for this opportunity, many pupils showed an interest. The school provided excellent facilities for us, we even had a year 7 pupil playing a piano just behind our stand. Despite his age he was excellent!”
