 Awards & Presentation Night 2011

 

 

209 (West Bridgford) Sqn has held its annual Awards & Presentation evening at the Albert Hall in the centre of Nottingham.

 

The evening began with a dinner for all Cadets, parents and staff after which the Squadron Commanding Officer, Flying Officer Steve Richards gave a speech. He reviewed 209’s achievements over the past 12 months which included the Cadets raising over £1800 towards Squadron funds and completing 35 Heart Start First Aid courses.

The awards where then given out, each presented by the Guest of Honour, the Mayor of Rushcliffe, Councillor Mrs Marie Males.

Best NCO, Corporal Michael Disney

Drill and Deportment, Sergeant George Kirkham

Best Male Sports Cadet, Corporal Ryan Young

Best Female Sports Cadet, Cadet Eleanor Welham

Fieldcraft Award, Sergeant Josh Lee-Taylor

Flying and Gliding Award, Cadet Finn Wilkinson

Shooting Award, Corporal Michael Disney

Attendance Award, Cadets Sam Baxter and Navraj Boughan

Community Award, Cadet Mitchell Baxter

Poppy Award, Cadet Sarah Bramley

Best Flight, A Flight.  This award was collected by Sgt Josh Lee-Taylor

 

The Mayor of Rushcliffe, Cllr Mrs Marie Males with the award winners of 209 Sqn

 

Corporal Emily Tring was promoted to Sergeant and Cadets Stephanie Willett and Barnaby Taylor were promoted to Corporal.

 

The Mayor, Mrs Males said of the evening “It was a privilege to be here and to see what a wonderful job all the Cadets hard work and training results in.”
