Going to W.A.W.
Nine Air Cadets from 209 (West Bridgford) joined nearly 300 other Cadets from the South and East Midlands Wing at the Wing Activity Weekend held at RAF Cottesmore in Rutland.
The Wing Activity Weekend was a multi-activity event which included many sports, initiative exercises, fieldcraft lessons, archery and climbing. There was even a disco on Saturday night.

Easy does it on the see-saw
Corporal Emily Tring describes part of the weekend. “Our last activity was run by the RAF Careers Motivational Outreach Team. They have their own exercise area on RAF Cottesmore which included many obstacles. Our first challenge was to balance over 20 Cadets on a massive see-saw. It took a bit of co-ordination but we managed it. We then had the ‘Spider’s Web’ challenge were we had to pass our team through a massive rope spider’s web without touching any ropes or dropping any Cadets. To make it harder the Motivational Team didn’t allow any of the Sergeants or Corporals to speak. It took some time to organise and a few ropes were touched and a few Cadets dropped but we managed to get a system going eventually.”
